Catholic Stewardship - A Way of Life

It's Stewardship Sunday.  Are you ready?  What does that mean?  How I can challenge myself to "step up" to be a better Catholic!  How will I shed distractions and gain more focus on becoming the beautiful person God intended me to be?

First, think about all the gifts and blessings God has bestowed on with you and BE GRATEFUL!   Starting with the Stewardship of Prayer - how will I try to be less anxious, learn to let go, and become more intimate with God through prayer?  Here are some ways you can step up your prayer life:

  • Five Minutes a Day commitment to Prayer
  • Attending Mass on days other than Sunday
  • Prayer before all meals
  • Receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation
  • Meeting with a Spiritual Director
  • Taking a Retreat

Second, by signing up for one of the activities in the Stewardship of Ministry, we choose opportunities to get outside of ourselves, serve one another, and make our lives more meaningful.  Each one of us is uniquely gifted, able to serve, and equipped to preserve the Church's great tradition of ministry and service and at Christ the King, everyone is asked to sign up for at least one ministry.  Here is a sample of ways to become involved:

  • S.P.C (Social Planning Committee) - helping to plan social activities with and for your fellow LSU students
  • Becoming a sponsor for Confirmation or RCIA
  • working for social justice with the Faith Peace and Justice Committee
  • volunteering at Mass to be a Hospitality Minister, or Communion Minister, or Reader.

The third and final element of Catholic Stewardship is Treasure, or the Stewardship of Offering.  Just as we set aside a portion of our time for our personal ministry, we set aside a portion of God's blessings for the work and ministry of this parish.  No matter how substantial or modest, wise giving involves a select portion of our income.  Giving is planned and giving is proportionate.

Stewardship Sunday is the Sunday before the first day of the semester.

If you would like to sign up for a ministry, please complete a Stewardship Form.

Forms may be turned in to the Parish Office any time of the year.
